Kitty Designs an Original Sweater

Well, the first "Design Basics II" class has ended! Here is the sweater Kitty designed. She used two different lace patterns and finished off with a crochet lace edging. Now she is equipped to keep on designing! I think she even has another sweater design in the works....

There is not another Design Basics II class on the schedule. However, if you have an interest in taking the class or Design Basics I, call Stitches & Scones and leave a message for Christina.

Bill's 80th Birthday Gift

We finished the block blanket for Bill Marlott
in his "dancing colors". It was a group effort.
Lin, Diane, Kitty, Gina, Tonia, Kim, and Molli

to all the participants and happy birthday Bill!

Linen Isle

Hot summer weather is here and with it Plymouth's wonderful Linen Isle. This delightful yarn is a mix of cotton and linen and comes in several shades. It is great for tanks, lace sweaters, and even skirts! At first Linen Isle can be a little disappointing because it has a "harsh" hand. However, once you begin to knit with it the linen fibers soften, resulting in a garment with fabulous drape.

New Fleece Artist

We have received a new shipment of the Lady of the Lake jacket kits, but they are quickly finding new homes! Fleece Artist is hand dyed in Nova Scotia and comes in 37 beautiful colorways. Check out their palate at http://www.fleeceartist.com

Malabrigo Lace Baby Merino

We have been eager for the new Malabrigo lace weight yarn to arrive and it finally has! The yarn itself is so soft (due to the fact that it is baby merino) and of course it has the subtle color hues Malarbigo is known for. The little yarn babies have been finding homes rather quickly so come quickly if you want to get some of the first batch!

Delightful Surprise

We had a delightful surprise Wednesday morning. A customer walked in the store and pulled out a beautiful lace shawl she had just finished from the book Vintage Lace Today. Knitted from Plymouth's Baby Alpaca D.K., the shawl draped elegantly. We were all quite impressed.

New Yarn

We received some smashing new yarn today. Wisdom Yarns has come out with two new lines, Sonnet and Poems.
Sonnet is a blend of wool and silk while Poems is 100 % wool.
We were quite impressed with their beautiful colorways.

Lin's Class

Lin's Wednesday afternoon class is always into something interesting. This month they are knitting a stash-reduction sweater that is ablaze with color and texture.
Who knew -- scones, coke, and knitting do go hand in hand.

There is always last minute finishing to do, including choosing the perfect button!
Stay tuned for further progress on the stash-reduction sweaters!

Summer Shardigan

This past fall we all had so much fun making the new rage -- shardigans (a cross between a cardigan and a shawl).

Well, Kitty came up with the brillant idea of making a summer Shardigan which is comprised of Louet EuroFlax, Art Yarn Silk, and ribbon yarn.

Both Kitty and Lin have Shardigan classes this summer so don't get left out of the newest rage!
